Portland and Vancouver come in during the 2011 season. The rivalry is already strong from the USL days, especially between Portscum and Seattle. I didn't get to go but I guess the US open cup game in Portland last year was insane. The Timbers Army and Emerald City Supporters fucking hate each other and Keller has made sure that his contract will have him playing in 20011 and said he will start a stadium wide Anti Portland chant after we beat them at home.

I can't wait for Portland next year. We have a crew of about 30 people (and growing) that will be going. ECS will have a good 2 or 3 sections of their stadium full.

Last year was just a warm up, this year we take the cup!

Nice! I was bummed I couldn't get GA but got above the GA next to a few friends.
You should come march with ECS at the St. Patrick's Day Parade.

There is a short break for the world cup. and, frankly, not a lot of MLS teams rosters will be raided for world cup players going to training. only about two to three per team max... For example, Seattle only has Brad Evans (who will probably not be on the World Cup squad) on the US team and Tyrone Marshall on the Jamaican team.

You are right Jamaica did not qualify, but they are playing friendlies leading up to the world cup, and Marshall is on the team. He had missed the first week or training because of this. I mentioned him as one of the few players that international play would affect as he has been increasingly used by Jamaica.

Montero has 4 caps for Columbia, but only one from them since playing in America. and there is a strong rumor that he may not get one again unless he works on some of his "issues".

You are right about Leo, he actually has a long history with Costa Rica, 60 caps, and one World Cup already played (2006). But he is not listed on their current squad, and from what I can tell do not have a lot of friendlies scheduled.

Like I said, really though, for the most part the World Cup will not affect MLS teams like it would major Euro teams if they played a summer league, where nearly all starting players are international level players. Take a team like Arsenal for example, which has played this year with NO English starters every so often... To play football in the UK for a non-native you have to have international caps to get a work visa at some level (this could be in the u-21 systems though) so if they had to play their league season during the summer like MLS when the World Cup happens it would be a disaster of epic proportions.

Fuck!!! March 11th is the day I leave for Iceland. And I have to miss the season opener because it's the day before I get back. :( I should have planned my trip better!
Have the int'l friendlies been announced already, or do I just suck at looking for things on the internet?
